Jaguar XF 2008
Why it's one of our most significant: Each day, Jaguar is costing parent company Ford some obscene amount of money to operate. The XJ is modern in every aspect but appearance, and the front of the XK may or may not look like a Taurus. Early spy photos are showing a more modern and unquestionably unique front end for the production XF, and the rest of the car will follow suit. But can it outperform the BMW 5-series, the Audi A6, and the Mercedes E-class? Read our full story below.

Early History of SS and Jaguar Cars + Jaguar SS100
Jaguar began life as Swallow Sidecars in 1922. Blackpool , a rather dreary town on the Western seaboard of industrial Lancashire; seemingly an unpromising launch platform for the car that became as inspirational in Hollywood or Hong Kong as it was in Buenos Aires or Beijing. In the years following the end of the First World War, the young William Lyons appeared to be a pushy young motorcycle sidecar manufacturer with delusions of grandeur. Ambitious to move up to cars, in 1927 he used his Swallow Sidecars workers' coachbuilding skills to make bodies for Austin Sevens, giving them a status...

BMW 3/15
The BMW 3/15 was BMW's second car, first produced in July 1929. After the end of World War One the situation for BMW - which was founded as an aero engine manufacturer became difficult. The Versailles treaty strongly restricted airplane manufacture in Germany and companies had to look for other fields of business. So BMW turned to truck and boat engine, motorcycle and later car manufacture. When the BMW Dixi line collapsed, BMW took the opportunity and bought the license for the Austin seven as well as the Eisenach factory. For the first months the production of the car continued as BMW...

Mercedes Simplex
The Mercedes Simplex was an automobile model produced, between the years 1902 and 1909, by the Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (DMG, Daimler Motor Society, a predecessor of Daimler-Benz and Daimler-Chrysler). It contined the use of Mercedes (car) as the new brand of DMG, rather than Daimler. The Mercedes Simplex was designed by Wilhelm Maybach in Stuttgart, Germany. It featured high engine performance (40 to 60 hp), with overall stability granted at its large and wide body, with low center of gravity. Its predecessor car, the Mercedes 35hp of 1901, had broke with the primitive automotive standards....

Horch 8 Sport Cabriolet’
Ever since 1927, Horch had made a ‘Horch 8 Sport Cabriolet’. These were initially two-door, two-seat open cars with two side windows only, and two ‘dickey’ seats at the back. As the years passed, the models acquired more space at the back. In 1932, the relevant model in the Horch catalogue was the Type 780. Its successor in 1935 was the 853, one of the most beautifully styled cars of its entire era.

Quadricycle
Quadricycle (also spelled quadracycle or quadrocycle) is a four-wheeled vehicle. The most common layout is when the wheels are placed at the angles of a rectangle. The alternative layout is when wheels are placed at the angles of a rhombus (or, more generally, at the angles of a geometric kite). The rhombus layout is not very convenient, because such vehicles are less stable and leave three tracks instead of two. Quadricycles were one solution to the problem of low-speed stability in early cycles, typically multi-seat models (as seen in the picture). Both tandem (in line, as depicted) and...
